Living History Programs


In belief that history is not an arm chair only event we support program which include living history and reenacting events Our key activities include, a variety of displays, consulting for historical programs and participation in a variety of events which attempt to bring history alive.

Our regular activities include participation in the Virginia War Museum and their programs. Their WWI experience (click for photo gallery) is open to the public in the spring of the year. Held on property owned by the VA War Museum in Newport News. VA. it attracts thousands of school children and the general public. An excellent event, it features sham battles, living history displays along with period equipment. 2004 marks the 4th annual event and is highly recommended for the history enthusiast.

We are also active members of the Great War Association and participate in its biannual reenactments held in Newville PA. (click for photo gallery) Held in the spring and fall they are usually "participant only events but due to safety reasons However, if you wish to join a unit and comply with the unit's requirements for uniforms and equipment, many of us are looking for recruits.

The Fredericksburg Memorial Military Museum participates in these events as members of the 116th Infantry, HQ Company of the 29th Division AEF. At this time we are actively seeking those wishing to recreate and relive those harrowing days of yesteryear. Please contact the 116th Adj. via to seek membership and find out our requirements for joining. It will be necessary to complete and submit the unit application (click for application) to join our unit.
